Approximately 200 participants, including energy and utility regulators, industry leaders, political officials and consumer advocates attended the 3rd annual Womens Energy Summit on September 20 in Chicago. Illinois Commerce Commissioner Sherina Maye Edwards and WES (Womens Energy Summit, Inc., a non-profit organization) hosted the day-long event within the JW Marriott in Chicago.
The Summit focused entirely on pertinent topics including cybersecurity and measures transported to improve reliability and security of your nations most significant infrastructure, the utility of the future and just how utilities can embrace innovation and enhance customer alternatives, in addition to a discussion in the C-Suite collaborative in the perspective of a software application holding company CEO plus the CEO of that subsidiary. Along with the daylong Summit, a half-day Rising Star Forum occured on September 19 to identify over 25 stellar, up and coming women energy professionals.
As a fun filled accent this years event, also in furtherance within the organizations philanthropic goals, WES presented a good for $5,000 towards Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana to help fund a brand new program devoted to educating and encouraging girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
The Summits distinguished morning and luncheon speakers include Colette D. Honorable, Commissioner, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; Congresswoman Robin L. Kelly, U.S. House of Representatives, 2nd Congressional District; and Susan N. Story, President and CEO, American Water.
Additional speakers include some of the extremely reputable leaders inside energy industry like Christopher M.
