Thousands of foreign workers may now have vocational training received of their home country, recognized in Norway. It may ensure these with higher salaries and forestall social dumping.
The Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) may be commissioned while using the responsibility to quality assure foreign occupational educations, writes Klassekampen.
Before the latest scheme was officially announced, applications started pouring into NOKUT, who already normally receive 10,000 applications annually for approval of upper education.
– We anticipate that scheme will be larger, and hopefully within a very small amount of time, says Joachim Kallevig in NOKUT.
Currently only German and Polish occupational educations within plumbing, hairdressing, meat cutting, carpentry and concrete cutting that happen to be quality-assured. Additional disciplines and countries might be integrated into the scheme using a continuous basis.
